DOING OUR PART
In The Community
BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES ... TOGETHER!
Six Contracting Services is dedicated to corporate and social responsibility. That responsibility extends into each community in which we operate, and live. Many of our projects serve as landmarks for communities, and we aim to make a positive and long-lasting impact that will extend well beyond bricks and mortar.
From volunteer work to the support of local organizations and charities to active citizenship, we become part of the communities we serve, working together with our friends and neighbours to enrich the lives of those around us and make improvements that will remain long after a project is complete.
We work closely with organizations like United Way and The Boys and Girls Clubs of America on a local level, as well as volunteer at local soup kitchens and shelters on a regular basis. Our involvement is driven at the employee level, and they often take it upon themselves to identify areas of need in the community, and work diligently to help them grow and thrive.
The following organizations are just some examples of our recent commitments to improve the lives of local, regional and national communities:
OVERCOMING BARRIERS
Diversity and Inclusion
CREATING A WORKING ENVIRONMENT WHERE EVERYONE CAN THRIVE!
As a 100 percent employee-owned company, Six Contracting is committed to sustaining a culture that
delivers great experiences for everyone – and where we are each empowered to achieve success without barriers.
- Viola Gowen, President

of life. We are a committed Equal Opportunity Employer and continuously encourage an open dialogue and mutual understanding among our employees. WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION ADVOCACY
When it comes to women in construction, the National Association of Women In Construction, (NAWIC), reports that women make up only 10.9 percent of the entire workforce.
Six Contracting is committed to encouraging the participation of women in our company at all levels, both in our offices and on our projects. We believe in providing equal career opportunities to create a culture that recognizes the unique value that women bring to our business.
We are uniquely qualified to provide opportunities in the construction industry for women and other minority groups that have traditionally been overlooked for meaningful employment and career advancement in the industry. Based on our hispanic, woman-led ownership and history, we (more than most) fully understand the challenges associated with gaining fruitful employment in an industry that is male-dominated.
From educating aspiring young high-schoolers through programs like ACE, to recruiting top talent at college campuses nationwide, Six Contracting encourages the mentoring, hiring and growth of women in construction. In addition to being an industry leader, internally, Six Contracting supports its employees through programs such as the Women’s Leadership Seminar (WLS), an event designed to bring together women from across the company to learn from one another, share challenges, and explore areas of personal and career growth, as well as WNet, a leadership network of women within the company.
